Personality:
Due to growing up in a dark future where Earth is terrorized by powerful killer Androids and being only 1 of 2 remaining beings able to stand up to them at all, Trunks lacks the arrogance and pride that is usual to those who have Saiyan blood. He’s serious and polite, cautious, and a bit broody at times. Some of this is also because he never knew his father, to grow-up with Vegeta’s influence. That said, he is used to looking for any means necessary to destroy the Androids, as he is the last ‘hope’ for his future, and he is outclassed and knows it. (Painfully, he knows it.) Once in the past, very rarely he’ll display a cocky side, as being from the future he believes he knows what’s going to happen. If this advantage disappears, so does the cockiness.

It’s very likely he has some degree of PTSD, given all he’s been through, with the Androids being his big trigger. However he’s also one of the few saiyan-blooded fighters who shows some common sense--mainly by attempting to destroy the Androids before they become a threat. He still attempts to be respectful to everyone, and has a desire to impress his father, while being somewhat disgusted and horrified by Vegeta’s attitude and actions.

Abilities: Editing


Trunks is a hybrid of Human/Saiyan. His heritage means he is a gifted natural fighter, adept at training, learns quickly, and at using and sensing ki (and skills utilizing it). His natural talent is already that of a peak human athlete and lower-level super-human. His heritage also grants him slightly heightened senses compared to a normal human and a heightened rate of healing as well as greater resistance to injury along with immunity to basic sickness. He is also the son of the genius, Bulma Briefs, and grandson to Dr. Briefs; in addition to the good genes that gives him, he was raised by his mother and home-school/tutored, and expected to be intelligent and use his brain.


Because of his Saiyan heritage, he has access to 2 distinct unique abilities. The first is known as a 'zenkai' boost; any time a saiyan (or hybrid) is brought close to death, but does not die, and is healed--they gain a boost to their base physiology and abilities. What does not kill them, quite literally, only makes them stronger. The second is a powered-up form known as “Super Saiyan”. This form at level 1 takes the natural power of the individual, and multiplies it by 50. With training it may be further modified and increased, with different grades and levels.


The Super Saiyan form is not without drawbacks, as it is ultimately fueled by rage and anger. He's a bit more ruthless, impulsive, and even vengeful while in that state, as well as it costing ki-energy to maintain the form. On the physical side of things, at level 1--his musculature and physique become a bit more defined, his hair will spike up from the ki-energy (like in a harsh wind) and turn gold, and his eyes turn green.


In Super Saiyan: Grade 2
Transforming into the Super Saiyan state requires powering up, wherein a golden glow will start to emanate in an aura around him. As the golden-glow seems to subsume him, the physical changes occur, though a faint aura of ki-energy remains around him.





Skills


Master Martial Artist/Swordsman
Trunks is a hybrid of human and saiyan, a race of warriors. Fighting and training is in his blood. While mostly self-taught, he achieved basic ki-manipulation and the ability to use it to fly as well as combat skills enough to impress Gohan with how far along he was at age 14. With Gohan then mentoring him properly, he became skilled enough to have a more effective chance against advanced Androids (really Cyborg entities) who terrorized and devastated their world.

It is unknown when Trunks first gained his sword, or how (at least in the canon we have) or who taught him to wield it. Nevertheless he is shown to be extremely skilled in its use, but not dependent on it.


Ki-energy manipulation
Ki-energy is a representation of the life-force all beings have, being harnessed and honed to improve oneself. For Martial Artists, it allows greater endurance, among other things. A master Martial Artist may be able to focus their ki-energy to allow them super-human feats (such as levitation and flying) or a focused blast of energy. They might also be able to project their ki-energy around them in an aura that can shield them. A skilled user of ki-energy may also be able to sense the presence of other strong ki-users, and mask their own ki-signature and presence.


Trunks is an extremely skilled ki-energy user, being naturally adept at it thanks to his heritage and training. He is capable of masking his own ki-signature and presence (his power level essentially), as well as sensing other extremely strong people. He can fly, project his ki-energy around him in an aura, and has mastered basic ki-energy bursts. He has a few signature attacks.

Burning Attack Trunks performs a series of rapid arm movements before placing his palms forward, with the thumbs and index fingers touching each other to form a small diamond shape, then he fires a powerful blast of energy from his palms towards the opponent. [Quote from the wiki.]

Buster Cannon/Finish Buster A ki-energy wave fired from both hands.

Shining Sword Attack He fires a Burning Attack slowly enough for the opponent to dodge by taking to the air, where he surprises and slices the opponent to bits before finishing them off with a flash of yellow energy shot from one hand [Quote from the wiki.]

Most of his attacks are variations of the above at this canon-point in the series.

Mechanical Engineering/Computer Programming and Maintenance
Trunks is the son and grandson of a Genius-inventor, and in his time-line has had to maintain what resources they have in the post-apocalyptic-West City. While not at his mother's level, he likely has enough know how to access most hidden files and repair most basic modern-technology and devices.

Urban Survival and Scavenging
Trunks has had the misfortune to exist in a world under constant attack by Androids intent on terrorizing and killing everyone. They destroy cities without remorse, and Trunks and his mother remained in the ruins of Capsule Corps in West City, using the demolition as cover.





Time Line Information and Dates
Trunk's Timeline
Year 764--King Cold and Frieza head towards Earth. Goku uses Instant Transmission to move from his spaceship to Earth. Goku kills King Cold and Frieza.
Year 766--Trunks is born. In November, Goku dies of the Heart Virus
Year 780--Gohan starts training Trunks. Gohan is later killed by the Androids in Pepper Town. Trunks turns into a Super Saiyan for the first time. (Trunks is 14 years old.)
Year 783--Trunks is defeated by the Androids in Bridgetown. (Trunks is 16/17 years old)
Year 784--Trunks goes back to the year 764 in the time machine, causing his future to become an alternate to the present. (Trunks is 18/19 years old) [This is the canon-point I will usually draw him from.]
Year 785--Trunks returns to his time and kills Android 17 and 18. (Trunks is 20/21 years old.)
Year 788--Trunks kills Cell and brings peace to his timeline. (Trunks is 22/23 years old)

Alternate Timeline 1
Consistent with Trunks' Timeline up until Year 788. At some point in this timeline, Trunks deactivates both Android 17 and Android 18. Cell was born the year before, and kills Trunks, stealing his time machine and fleeing to Year 763 of the Main Z Timeline, to seek the Androids. He then goes underground for a year to absorb nutrients.

Main Z Timeline
Year 764--Trunks comes from the future, to kill Frieza's soldiers, Mecha-Frieza, and King Cold, instead of Goku. Goku returns to Earth. Trunks delivers his warning about the Androids, and about the Heart Virus, giving Goku the Heart Medicine that will cure the virus.
Year 766--Present Trunks is born.
Year 767--May 12th. Androids 19 and 20 appear. Goku becomes ill with the Heart Virus. Android 19 is killed by Vegeta. Androids 16, 17, and 18 are activated. Android 17 kills Dr. Gero (Android 20). May 15th. Goku recovers from the heart virus; he lets the others know about the Room of Space and Time. Vegeta and Trunks enter the Room. May 16th Androids 17 and 18 are absorbed by Cell, who attains his Perfect Form. Vegeta and Trunks exit the Room of Space and Time, Goku and Gohan enter it.May 17th. Cell announces his Cell games to the World. Goku and Gohan exit the Room, and Piccolo enters it. May 26thCell Games Begin. Goku, King Kai, Bubbles, and Gregory are killed by Semi-Perfect Cell. Trunks is killed by Cell in his Super Perfect form. Cell is defeated by Gohan, who has attained Super Saiyan 2. Android 17 is killed when Cell is killed; he and Trunks are both later revived. Later in the year, Goten is born.

Trunks will likely keep his ki-energy hidden and masked most of the time, but since ki-energy is life-force, he has the capacity to be incredibly strong in life-force-presence. Those who are Masters, or if Trunks is in his Super Saiyan form, will sense an underlying core of Rage (and a massive increase in his ki when in the Super Saiyan form). Empaths/Psychics/Force-Users may also sense an underlying anger and bitterness combined with a strong determination at all times.


Any 'presence' that might allow for sensing of heritage/blood/genetics will likely sense that Trunks is half-human. Depending on how, they might learn the other half of his heritage is Saiyan.


Anyone looking at him will be able, just by visuals, to tell that he's likely a fighter of some kind, and in extremely good shape. (I have pictures up above in the 'basics' section. Feel free to click the links.)
